The Small Hydroelectric Station celebrates two years of operation in a very unique way! The Regional Development Company of Crete and Theatre 73100 collaborate on a series of performances and present the museum theatre event titled: “MYIS 1929 – museum theatre.”
Specifically, the performance focuses on the history of the Small Hydroelectric Station of Agyia. Both inside and outside the museum space, actor-guides will vividly narrate to visitors/spectators the story of the power plant — a pioneering achievement for its time, which was the first to electrify Chania and was inaugurated in 1929 by then Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos. Visitors will discover the story behind the creation of the artificial lake of Agyia and the Small Hydroelectric Station — a unified technological project of the 20th century, located in an area protected under the European Ecological Network “NATURA 2000.”
