For the first time, the Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) Agia was awarded the Greek Green Award of the “6th International Exhibition Verde.Tec: Innovation & Technology for the Environment” in the category “Hydroelectric Project Award – an example to follow”. The award was received by the new President of the Regional Development Company of Crete (PANETAIK SA) and Regional Councilor, Flemetakis Efstratios. Although it has been actively operating as a public space for less than two years, the SHPP Agia managed to garner warm reviews from the scientific and educational community. The award is the result of excellent cooperation and is a special honor for PANETAK SA, which undertook its organization and operation, as it was attributed to an industrial heritage site for the first time.
The company’s director, Maria Petrantonaki, states:
“Two years of excellent cooperation with institutions such as the Technical University of Crete, the Technical University of Crete, the Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as individuals and local entrepreneurs, have borne fruit, highlighting the love we have for our place, its culture, its history. A pioneering project for its time that continues to amaze us even today. MYIS Agia tells us about the past and enchants us about the future, which is why its people never stop planning and implementing new actions and programs.” According to a relevant announcement, the Greek Green Awards annually honor organizations, local government bodies and businesses that have put scientific knowledge and technological innovation at the service of the environment.
The Regional Development Company of Crete SA thanks everyone who has contributed to this award.
